Statistics don’t provide any guarantees but they can be very useful indicators that are worth considering. There’s one particular statistic at Beverley which stands out as something to take note of. Trainer Julie Camacho is unbeaten at Beverley so far this year, as all four of her runners have won. She’s set to send one to the Yorkshire track on Wednesday so we’re going to take a close look at the horse’s chances. Triggerman was a relatively consistent performer last season and he managed to win off a 4lb lower mark at Southwell in September. Camacho’s gelding needs to prove he is as effective on turf as he is on the all-weather but he was a good second at Doncaster in July.
Eighth on seasonal debut at Thirsk earlier this month, he led early on but finished tamely, as if needing the run. It’s fair to assume that he’ll improve for that but some help from the handicapper wouldn’t have gone amiss. He remains relatively lightly raced however and improvement can’t be ruled out.
The draw is always something to consider over shorter trips at Beverley and although the bias isn’t as pronounced over an extended 7f as it is over 5f, it could still have an impact. Triggerman is drawn in stall five and he shouldn’t have too much to worry about, especially in a nine-runner race.
King Sharja won on his penultimate start but was a little disappointing on his return to turf recently and the high draw won’t do him any favours. Park Street was very unlucky when fourth here over a furlong further last time and is entitled to go close with some better luck in-running here.
