Verdict

A tremendous field for the inaugural running, with the winner getting a pass into the $1million Grade 1 Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day. Majloom is the pick of the weights judged on his third to Soul Move and Romantic Warrior in last year's Dubai Turf but he's not been seen since, has left William Haggas and is drawn wide. He's taken on with Andrew Balding's JONQUIL, who had an uneven season given his disappointments at Royal Ascot and at Glorious Goodwood but he showed enough when second in the French 2,000 Guineas and when fourth in a Keenland Grade 1 to suggest he has decent claims in this company. Quddwah beat Aomori City here last month but the Crisford runner would ideally prefer give in the ground and a bigger danger is Comanche Brave, who is the type to raise his game this season. Dark Trooper and Strauss look best of the remainder. [Richard Young]
