Tips for Cork Races

Originally known as Mallow Racecourse, as it’s located in Mallow, County Cork,  when it was first opened in 1924, it has since changed to Cork Racecourse. Both Flat racing and National Hunt takes place at the venue. It’s near to Buttevant and Doneralle, where supposedly the first steeplechase was run in 1752. When it comes to finding the best Cork tips around, our experts at myracing have you covered.

Course: The Flat course is a right-handed oval with a mile and a quarter circuit. There is a chute so 5 and 6 furlong races can be run on a straight track.

The Hurdles track is the same as the Flat but the Chase course is a different mile and a half circuit. It’s a fair and level racecourse which doesn’t particularly favour any certain type of horse for our tips.

Draw Bias: For 5 and 6 furlong races at Cork, we want our tips to be drawn in the high numbers as there is a definite advantage to this. Also, over 7 furlong races it’s favourable to be drawn low as the horses run around a tight bend.

Feature Race: A number of graded and group races throughout the year, the Hilly Way Chase is arguably the feature. It’s run over 2 miles in December and was won in 2016 by Douvan and 2017 by Un De Sceaux.
