33-1 2024 Cheltenham Festival hope makes debut for Willie Mullins at Sligo 👀

Willie Mullins at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival

Willie Mullins has made a flying start to the current campaign and has been having plenty of winners in recent weeks. Annie Power’s first progeny made a winning start to his career for Mullins recently and this mare could follow suit at Sligo on Tuesday. A full sister to Facile Vega, big things will be expected from the horse in question.

You’ll get no sort of price on this horse at Sligo but she’s a noteworthy debutante. Currently 25-1 for next year’s Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle, she’s also 33-1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

8.18 Sligo

Aurora Vega is set to make her debut in a 2m2f bumper at Sligo on Tuesday. This suggests she’s probably more of a staying type than her illustrious full brother. The Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle is the more likely target if she is to line-up at next year’s Cheltenham Festival. If she impresses here, it’s difficult to imagine that her current odds for the Festival races will hang around for long.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, there isn’t much depth to this race. You don’t really expect summer bumpers at Sligo to be the most competitive or classy of affairs. Aurora Vega isn’t expected to have much trouble here but her biggest competition looks like seven-length point-winner Little Biggie for the Ray Hackett yard.

Willie Mullins has a 57 per cent record in the last fortnight, with 13 winners from his 23 runners. Patrick Mullins takes the ride and he’s also been in fine fettle, winning on four of his six rides in the last two weeks. It’s hard to see this mare getting beaten at Sligo but her odds are highly likely to reflect that. Now might be a good time to add her to your ante-post portfolio before her odds collapse.
