Tips for Bath Races

At 238 metres above sea level, Bath is the highest flat course in Britain. Due to this and there being no watering facilities at the track, the ground is often good to firm or even firm, meaning that our tips often search out horses that like to hear their hooves rattle. When it comes to finding the best Bath tips around, our experts at myracing have you covered.

Course: A left-handed circuit of a mile and a half. The run-in is uphill all the way which can suit galloping horses. It is generally very fair and if a front runner handles the turns and undulations, near the fore can be a good place to be. Although in some contests, horses get racing from a long way it due to the long straight which can play into the hands of closers.

Draw Bias: It would be expected that as the course is turning, low numbers would be an advantage. But this is actually the opposite as high numbers tend to do very well at Bath which we look for in our tips.

Feature Race: The Lansdown Fillies’ Stakes is a Listed race run over five furlongs in April. It was won by Cassandra Go in 2000 who went on to win the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot. Other notable participants have been Kind (2005), the Dam of Frankel and Mabs Cross (2018), runner-up in the Nunthorpe.
