Tips for Fairyhouse Races

One of Ireland’s premier horse racing venues, Fairyhouse in County Meath has held racing since 1848. It’s also been the home of the Irish Grand National since 1870. Both National Hunt and Flat contests take place throughout the year, but it is better recognised for the former.

Course: Both the flat and jumps courses are a mile and three quarters in length, right-handed in a square shape and generally very fair. The home straight is three furlongs and is slightly uphill so even though the track is not overly testing, we don’t want our tips to be short in the stamina department.

Feature Meetings: There are two major festivals each season at Fairyhouse for jumps horses with 5 Grade 1 races.

Easter Festival

  • Ryanair Gold Cup Day (Sunday)
  • Boylesports Irish Grand National Day (Monday)
  • Easter Family Fun Day (Tuesday)

Winter Festival

  • Day 1 (Grade B Handicap Chase)
  • Day 2 (3 x Grade 1’s – Royal Bond Novice Hurdle, Hatton’s Grace Hurdle, Drinmore Novice Chase)
