Paul Nicholls Stable Tour: ‘I can’t wait to see him go chasing’ 🚀

Paul Nicholls’ stable tour came out on Monday and he was his usual open and bullish self. Always with one eye on the future, his powerful team is ready to go once again. ‘He’s yet to receive the credit he deserves’

Greaneteen is a three-time Grade 1 winner at Sandown, with two Celebration Chases and a Tingle Creek to his name. His trainer believes there could be even more to come from the talented individual this year. Nicholls said: “I can’t stress enough how well he’s working[…] I think he’s still improving and he should continue to hold his own at the highest level; I’m not sure he has yet received the credit he deserves.”

‘I have to admit I was impressed’

Hermes Allen made a winning start to his hurdles career in impressive fashion at Stratford. He surprised Nicholls in doing so which led to some lofty comparisons. Nicholls asserted: “He surprised me when making a winning hurdles debut as he hadn’t been showing much at home. But then some of our best performers over the years, like Denman, Silviniaco Conti and Neptune Collonges, never showed much at home before bolting up on the track.”

‘I can’t wait to see him go chasing’

Stage Star makes his chase debut at Warwick on Tuesday and Nicholls has been counting down the days to see this lad over a fence. The champion trainer said: “He had a breathing operation at the start of July and I hope that will help him recapture the smart form of early last season now that he switches to fences. He jumps them really well at home and I can’t wait to see him go chasing.” Stage Star certainly looked the part on chase debut at Warwick on Tuesday, beating the useful West Cork by 13 lengths.
